Heavenly Solar DHW Controller (controller only - sensors not included)

The original earlier Heavenly Solar hot water system models used DHW Solar Controllers. Later models used the Senztek Lite/Eco. Neither of these controllers have digital temperature display.  Unfortunately, this makes fault finding difficult. It is worth looking at new and improved types of controllers that are priced around the same value. In some circumstances, depending on the age of the system, it may be easier to replace all the Heavenly Solar components with a complete pump station. In the long run this can be a much cheaper option. Click here to view a complete pump station.

The DHW Solar Controller is an Australian owned and made controller, which will work with any system on the market.

This controller was also used in the following brands of solar hot water systems, earlier on:

Douglas Solar; Aquamax; Hills Solar; Heavenly Solar; Endless Solar; Solar Power; Suntrap Solar

Overview

Replacement solar hot water spare parts are easy to find here at Solar Hot Water Parts and even easier to repair. The DHW Solar Controllers come with pre-programed settings. These controllers can be customised and the pre-set settings easily changed if required.

Features and Operations

The DHW Solar Controller has been specifically designed for domestic hot water installations. Using a purpose built solar panel, the controller will endeavour to heat the tank water to 75ºC, and hold it at this temperature. The controller does this by using sensors to sense both the solar panel and the tank water temperature. When the solar panel temperature rises 9ºC above the tank water, the controller will turn the pump ON to circulate the water through the solar panel. If the tank water reaches 75ºC, or the solar panel temperature decreases to within 5ºC of the tank water, the pump will turn OFF. There is also a built-in freeze protection which will turn the pump ON if the solar panel temperature decreases to 3ºC. The pump will turn OFF once the panel temperature has risen to 5ºC. This feature will avoid the solar panel and the pipe work freezing.

Additional features include:

Lights that indicate Power ON; Pump ON; Tank Sensor Error and Collector Sensor Error.

Specifications:

  • Maximum tank temperature 75ºC
  • Maximum collector temperature 250C
  • Freeze protection 3ºC to turn ON; 5ºC to turn OFF
  • Tank/Collector differential 9ºC to turn ON; 5ºC to turn OFF
  • Maximum load 240V ac 10 Amp
